I have once seen the very same behaviour going from 2.4 to 2.6 on the IXDP425. What that ended up being was that I had switched the PHY ID jumpers on the NPE sub boards. The 2.4 kernel is robust against this, the PHY detection in 2.6 is not. Same behaviour: anything gets loaded etc, but no packets get through. So did you remove those sub boards or PHY ID jumpers recently?Try to switch them.
Though this wouldn't explain the eepro100 not working.
