MP vows to move no confidence motion in President

MP for Mbarara Municipality, Hon. Winnie Byanyima

The Mbarara Municipality MP Hon. Winnie Byanyima says she will go ahead and move a motion urging Parliament to declare a vote of no confidence in President Museveni if he does not punish officers named in the Congo mineral plunder.

A number of reports released by the UN Security Council implicate Lt. Gen. Salim Saleh, the Army Commander Maj. Gen. James Kazini and the Minister for Regional Co-operation Col. Kahinda Otafiire among others.

Hon. Winnie Byanyima while addressing journalists in Parliament on Tuesday said she is still consulting with fellow MPs to find the most appropriate time of moving the motion.

She dismissed Justice Porters Commission, which is investigating the alleged Congo Mineral plunder as a joke and waste of taxpayers money.

Byanyima protests Col. Kivuna order

Meantime, Hon. Winnie Byanyima has protested an order by the Commander of 2nd Division Col. Poteli Kivuna, giving all soldiers wives in Makenke barracks one day to vacate.

Col. Poteli Kivuna gave the directive at the 2nd Division headquarters in Makenke Barracks in Mbarara Municipality.

Addressing journalists at Parliament on Tuesday Hon. Winnie Byanyima described the order as inhuman treatment of the soldiers wives.

She said even if the soldiers are not allowed to stay with their wives in the barracks, it is unfair to give the women one day to quit.

She said the women should be given proper notice to allow them to plan for how and when to relocate.
