Moses Ali in trouble over rent

A Kampala businessman, George Wycliff Mpimbaza alias Bazima has sued the Minister for Disaster Preparedness, Brig. Moses Ali seeking to recover Shs 7.5m in rent and other bills.
Mpimbaza filed the suit through Tunyiringire & Co. advocates at Kampala High Court in November.
Court has given Moses Ali 15 days from Nov. 22 to file his defence.
Mpimbaza claims he entered a verbal tenancy agreement with the minister in December1999. Moses Ali rented his house on plot 79, Sebowa Zone, Kiwatule in Ntinda.
He claims that Ali agreed to pay a monthly fee of Shs 600,000.The amount was to be paid six months in advance.
Mpimbaza contends that he later drafted a tenancy agreement, but the minister refused to append his signature and continued to occupy the house till May 2000.
Mpimbaza claims that they agreed that the Ali would keep the house in good condition and pay all the bills.
He however, claims that when Moses Ali moved to another ! house, he left his (house) in a state of disrepair. He claims it cost him Shs 1.9m to repair it.
He also claims that Ali left telephone bills of Shs 327,378, water bills of Shs 75,793 and electricity bills of Shs 2.4m.
He claims that due to the accumulated bills, he has failed to get another tenant.
He wants court to order Ali pay him general damages, cost of repair, costs and interest.
