Vukoni,

I presume this was pointed in my direction since the quotes you provide were taken from my posting. I would have just liked you to provide evidence where I spent 'several hours a day, each time this topic crops up, spreading forth their opinions across various Internet forums'. The only contribution I made about this issue that I know of, was the one you took the quotes from, and I gave reasons why I thought this was not a priority.

You seem to have misunderstood my statement about "nature taking its course". All I meant was that a national language should not be prescribed, especially not against the will of the people concerned. But maybe you can educate us on how this was successfully done (using 'historical facts' of course).

Netters,

Isn't it ironic that those who say a national language is unimportant and "that we shouldn't spend so much of our precious time on" are precisely doing this -- i.e., spending several hours a day, each time this topic crops up, spreading forth their opinions across various Internet forums?

Whether you believe that a national, regional, or global language is important/necessary or not, the notion that there is such a thing as "nature taking its course" in the development of a language is not borne out by historical fact.
