THE coordinator of the Arrow Group, Musa Ecweru, has said Teso does not need peace talks but to defend itself against the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA).

Ecweru, said this during the burial of one of the Arrow Group commanders, Lt. Sam Otai, who died in Mulago hospital after a month-long illness.

He said peace advocates should go to Acholi and Karamoja to talk to the aggressors.

"The Iteso are not the aggressors those who are parading for peace talks should go and talk to the aggressors in Acholi and Karamoja," Ecweru said.

"We are victims. what do you want to come to tell us? to be raped in peace or to be slaughtered like sheep?" Ecweru asked.

He said he read in papers recently that some people were agitating to go to Teso to talk peace.

Ecweru promised the Teso people that the sons of Teso were ready to fight to the last person if need be, to save the region from the rebels.

Otai was buried on Monday at his home in Oderai, two kilometres from Soroti Municipality.

Health state minister Capt. Mike Mukula and other Teso MPs Alice Alaso (Women), Francis Epetait (Ngora), Patrick Amuriat Oboi (Kumi), Johnson Malinga (Kapelebyong), John Eresu (Kaberamaido) and David Martin Orech (Kalaki) attended.
