Were for third term

By Fred Kayizzi and Amlan Tumusiime

HOIMA district leaders have supported the lifting of the presidential term of office and vowed to back President Yoweri Museveni for the presidency.

The leaders, who included district councillors, sub-county chairpersons and Movement chairpersons, made the resolution while meeting the new resident district commissioner, Martha Asiimwe, in her office on Friday.

They said they would constitute Musevenis local campaign team, should he decide to stand in 2006.

They also resolved to meet Museveni and reassure him of their support.

David Kaboyo, the town mayor as well as Musevenis former area campaign manager in the 2001 presidential elections, said the anti-third term activists had no support in the area.

He predicted Museveni would trounce his opponents because of his achievements and good leadership.

Asiimwe thanked the residents for supporting Museveni and told the people to appreci ate Movement achievements.

In a speech delivered for him, third deputy Premier Muganwa Kajura (above), said he was sponsoring radio programmes for the Movement organisation.

ps: does anyone know whether Mu7 ever delivered on the tarmac road to Hoima? What else has Bunyoro gained from 18 years of Movement rule? What of the Bakiga land grab in Kibaale, reported a while back?
