Cock refuses to be slaughtered, talks
MUKONO � Shock gripped residents of Misindye village, Goma
sub-county when a cock spoke and refused to be slaughtered,
writes Joel Ogwang.
An unknown resident
reportedly abandoned the cock at the sub-county headquarters
where it stayed for four days before Sekagya picked it and
kept it at his home.
He allegedly sold it to another
resident at sh5,000 on Friday before Christmas day. The
resident returned the cock, saying he was scared of
slaughtering a cock possed by evil spirits. Sekagya refunded
the money but was not satisfied with the man�s explanation.
On Monday evening, Sekagya tried to slaughter the cock
but was scared even more by a strange human voice coming from
its throat. This time, it threatened to kill any one who
killed or ate its flesh.
�The cock spoke in Luganda,
saying any one who slaughtered or ate its flesh would die,�
Sekagya said at his home.
He said the cock had refused
to leave his home and that whenever he took it and dumped it
far away from his home, it came back.
He also said it
kept following him wherever he went. Sekagya has reportedly
contacted leading traditional healers in the village but they
failed to kill the cock.
By press time, the strange
cock was still tied to a long rope in Sekagya�s home.
