No Ugandan runs any donor country

I am reacting to an article on the front page of The Monitor, Wednesday May 18, in which Prime Minister Apolo Nsibambi and Mr John Nagenda have expressed their views blaming the world bank decision on the opposition group.

They said, among other things: Opposition members are telling lies about the government; the opposition is advising donors to withhold aid flow; the World Bank wants to use its financial power to punish Ugandans. All this is trash.

In the first place, the World Bank wants to save Ugandans by not indirectly financing groups such as the Kalangala Action Plan that is used for intimidating Ugandans.
Secondly, it was not the opposition that advised Britain and Ireland to cut aid to Uganda.

Which Ugandan opposition leader runs a donor country, to be powerful enough to direct its foreign policy on Uganda?
Finally, the report was compiled by people who have known what is happening in Uganda.
When those in government learn to accept that they have weaknesses, it will be the first step to healing.

Dear felix:

I concur with your assertions above.
