Riot police fired tear gas to disperse opposition supporters in the capital Kampala. Police clashed with Forum for Democratic Change supporters outside party headquarters in Kampala. Opposition activists alleged several cases of voting irregularities, including intimidation by soldiers.

 

Uganda faces a period of uncertainty and the result of the election could be contested through the courts.
