All Tanzanian trailer drivers are being informed that with immediate effect,
The Rwanda government has increased their road toll from USD152 to USD500.
The 228% increment has been slapped on Tanzanian trucks transporting goods
from Der Es Salaam through Rusumo boarder post to Kigali in Rwanda. Just for
clarification, when a trailer uses the Tanzanian corridor it travels a
distance of 1, 350 Km where as if it uses the corridor of Mombasa and Uganda
it travels a distance of over 2, 700Km. The government of Rwanda has just
decided to go after the shortest route to reach Kigali. Rwanda has also
created a complex system for Tanzanian trailer drivers to cross Rusumo
boarder post, that as by this posting, there are over 200 trailers at that
boarder struggling to go into Kigali. If you are transporting goods to
Kigali through Tanzania start to think, and very fast.
