We have such dumn brains in Buganda sir. And Ssalongo Ssenoga lifts that kind
of narrow mandidedness for public consumption. Never blame Museveni to screw up
these kinds of brains that much. And I repeat what I have stated over and over
that Uganda did not develop to what it was for Ugandans were smart, no it
developed for Obote and Amin actually spoon fade them. What Museveni has done
is to tap into that stupidity and abuse the country this is what Amin and Obote
should have done. UNESCO funds very many sites and in very many counties,
including Canada and Ontario right here, but all properties they fund are
public properties and of cultural value. But still Ssenoga wants to stand up in
public and declare how Amasiro is a private entity and how dare we question how
UNESCO funds it. The small brain fails to realize that UNESCO started to fund
it for we Ugandans proved to UNESCO its value to us, and we own a right to go
back to UNESCO and declare the incompetence in the running of the fund and it
can be pulled out. And Ssalongo Ssenoga that is not a threat. All you need is
to start going after it in forums for UNESCO reads what we post. And what gets
to me is that very few Ugandans can look through such chaff when posted I can
bet you many in the forum believe that Amasiro is a private burial ground and
we keep on moving with the stupidity.
You have no idea how many times I read statements made in this forum and I
simply shake my head.

I beg your royal pardon !
Do not confuse Buganda/Mengo with Kasubi tombs
The tombs are a private family affair, and UNECSO made a
pact with a family without Buganda/Mengo or Museveni.
Infact Museveni discovered that Kasubi was a UNESCO site AFTER he torched it.
and he wanted to muscle in at the meeting in Braziil, where he sent
Opio, and some munyankole woman to try and get their
grubby hands on the money, mbu the masiro belong to Uganda.
Nobody at UNESCO listened to the Ugandan owners of Kasubi
There is therefore NOBODY in Buganda or anywhere asking Museveni
for money to restore Kasubi.
Museveni claimed to have 'donated' 2 billion shillings
to the restoration of Kasubi. Nobody asked him for it
and you never heard any muganda thanking him for it
Learn to read the small print!

The Kasubi tombs were made a UNESCO site in 1989.
This was done by some forward looking Baganda who were working
at UNESCO at the time. This was before the coronation of
Kabaka Mutebi in 1990, and the creation of Mengo.
Stay with me here: Mengo has no hand in the UNESCO/Masiro
deal which was done by the Kabaka himself in 1989.
When the tombs were burnt, UNESCO kicked in and
gave money to restore the tombs.
As we speak the restoration work is going on very well - thank you.
The Baganda you ask about UNESCO and Masiro have no clue
because Kasubi is primarily a private burial ground for the Buganda
royal family.
The Baganda do not go about asking for details about other people bijja
so they do not ask about finer details of Kasubi tombs.
But you would not know that now, would you ?

Ssalongo,
I think I need some education on the current topic of "Return of Kingdoms
Assets". Isn't the parliament of Uganda supposed to legislate and pass a law on
the procedure, formula and manner of return of these assets the way it was done
with Expropriated Properties taken from Asians by Central Government? Why
should the demands be made to the president as though he holds these
properties? The properties are in the hands of central government on behalf of
the people of Uganda so kingdoms should ask the people of Uganda through
parliament to return the assets.
1. These assets which are found in respective kingdoms especially public
utilities like forests, schools, churches, hospitals, local government offices
serve people primarily in areas where they are located so if they are returned
to the respective kingdoms will they be used differently or they will be used
exclusively for the benefit of the natives of the Kingdoms?
2. Kingdom administration hold properties in trust for their subjects, the
central government holds public properties in trust for the people of Uganda
who form subjects of these kingdoms, is there need to put these properties in
hands of another trustee? When the current trustee "Central Government" has not
failed to use the same for the people of Uganda?
3. If every kingdom receives its properties and decides to use them exclusively
what is the fate of those people who are not natives of the respective
kingdoms? Do those MOU's cater for other Ugandans who may be directly affected
by the return of the properties like forest reserves etc?
4. Do we still need central government if the respective kingdoms can cater for
their people? Are we not seeing federalism in a disguised manner? If the
government is willing to return the said properties isn't it better then to
have federalism which may become a better system of governance?
The whole topic leaves my head with a lot of unanswered questions. Looking
forward to answers from especially lawyers on this forum.
