We are learning now that the Ted RogersÂ’ family has agreed to donate $130
million to create the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research, making it the
largest private donation in Canadian health care history. The money will be
matched with $139 million in additional funds from hospital for Sick Kids,
University Health Network and University of Toronto for a total investment
of $269 million. We actually might as well end up with a single largest
heart research center in North America if not the Western community. We are
still waiting to know exactly where this center will be located but for sure
down town Toronto, and then we will advise so that our kids in sciences run
to apply for the money is here.
Ted Rogers, who had a heart condition, died at 75 in 2008.
