We generally inform the customer and keep a record that we have done so in our CMS.

We Do not ever respond to the Media Company as the legal basis for this is questionable at best. We also have no means to independently verify that their claims are accurate (i.e that there was a torrent involving the copyrighted works claimed)

Should the Media Company wish to pursue it further we'd need a sound legal basis under Irish Law (being as we are an Irish ISP) before we could hand over any info about the customer to a 3rd party.

In terms of Business customers torrenting, this does tend more often than not to be someone fairly senior which can on occasion place their IT people in a bit of a bind..

Just received a notice from Paramount about BitTorrent file sharing
from one of our connectivity customers.

How do others handle this?

i'd get legal advice on this. The rights holders have been stepping up
notice messages quite a bit recently, so it may be worth contacting the
ISPA to see if they have any legal opinion as to whether notices of this
form have any legal standing outside the USA.
