It works just fine. The only people that even notice changes in prefix allocation are in a tiny, tiny minority.

Modern P2P uses are quite short-lived (think phone call, multiplayer gaming) and as such modern applications don't depend on persistence/IP permanence; thank you, mobile broadband/NAT.
