As a random point, I've been using vim for years like it was vi and been fairly happy. However, I've recently started using the visual highlighting (shift+v in command mode, up and down arrows to select, then issue command like 'd' to delete, 'y' to yank, etc, and the integrated ide ( run :make and watch) features of vim. I really feel like these two features (which are decidedly a non-regular vi thing) have really improved my productivity and I highly recommend that if you use vim[1] already, you check them out. - Rob . [1] I know someone out there is thinking "I use editor XXX and XXX has been doing this for years - wtf is wrong with this guy" - just be happy that you are superior in your own quiet - and non-writing to the list- way :-)
