the problem is: if they stick you in front of a 'good' old unix (solaris, aix, maybe even macosx, etc.etc.) they won't have vim, there is only good old vi (and ex), not even emacs. So it's still good to know some classic vi! But once you're on the vim level, i don't think emacs and vim make much difference, it's just what you are used to.. It just so happens is that the way I work, i really like the emacs server mode, and 'ec' is 1 character less than 'vim' :-) [and i was addicted to MicroEmacs for the longest time] peter
