Interesting idea, and which kind of card would be fine for that? Which cable would you use to see the output of the screen of the desktop on the laptop screen?

Idle question:

I have a linux box that I only access via remote from a laptop. It's
been so reliable, I got rid of my last monitor and never replaced
it. But sooner or later something will break I'll need direct access
w/monitor to figure out what's wrong. But I don't need the monitor for
anything else.

Q: Anyone know of a small solution (in cu ft.)? A 15" LCD monitor would
do it but I'd rather not have to store it just for occasional use. If
there are 10-11" laptops, there must be 10-11" monitors. Or smaller. But
I haven't found one. What about those small monitors in POS equipment? I
don't need graphics, just text interface, so a low-res monitor would be
just fine.

If I were you, I would just get a TV-in card for my laptop, or
something similar that you could use to hook your existing laptop
screen up to your headless desktop. I've had reasonable luck with the
USB ones, and you aren't going to get smaller then that.

No clue re: small monitors, but generally you pay a premium for
something smaller then 12", so I would guess it's a road you would
rather not go down.
