winxpsp2-dotnet.bat was created as a result of the mess for the windows updates. So It was removed when all those updates were removed. But It can be added if a particular functionality is needed. sorry for my lack of knowledge. The .net Redistributable Package is the equivalent to the Java Runtime Enviroment right? Is that needed for everyone?
