There are *lots* of changes between the working one (2964) and the one you
used (3092):

http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/unattended/changeset?new=3092%40trunk%2Flinuxboot%2Fmisc%2Flinux-config&old=2985%40trunk%2Flinuxboot%2Fmisc%2Flinux-config

In the meantime, I will start with a git-bisect-style process. As you can
see, I'm building kernel 2.6.38.5:

[root@openinstall linuxboot]# grep ^linux= Makefile
linux=linux-2.6.38.5

First, download config version 3068:

[root@openinstall linuxboot]# svn up -r 3068 misc/linux-config
U misc/linux-config
Updated to revision 3068.

I build a CD, and hold down the <ENTER> key for a while when it's running
Kconfig...

(I also have to do my magic to make DOSEMU compile. Is there a way to
remove this from the Makefile completely? I'm not even using it!)

Boot it on all three machine types I have and it works! So, next config:
3089. It too works! However, 3090 *FAILS*.

I have attached the two resulting .config files. Something in the diff
between these is killing me. Unfortunately, there are a *lot* of changes
between them, which seems odd for a .config that's just minutes newer than
the other one...

[Edit: The .config files are not attached. Too big for the mailing list.
I'm sure you can compare them without me attaching them.]

Thoughts on what I should change from here?

Again, thank you very much for your help! I look forward to any
suggestions you might have.
