Michael, Have you made any progress in getting this working? You mention boot loader and dosemu, so I assume you're running the linux based installer. Unfortunately I'm still running the freedos based installer, and as such have zero experience with the linux one (at this point).
In relation to the SCSI HBA being seen by the linux kernel, have you already configured a logical drive within your scsi controller for linux to use?
