Cathy, I love reading your reflections. I was also trying to share thoughts
To Understand had inspired, but you did a much better job. I like the way
you say, "reading through this listserv engages our thoughts, connects us to
our experiences, questions our wonderings and gets us sharing our
interpretations." Of course, I do have a few more comments, LOL.

Cathy: When I taught nonfiction and procedural reading and writing I brought
in all the books I read to learn how to do things.
Judy: This is such a simple yet brilliant idea. Thanks so much.
Cathy: I know I have the ability "to read" To Understand.
Judy: I agree; I just hope I have the ability to fully comprehend and
improve my teaching.
Cathy: Learning is a social act. We learn best when we are engaged,
interested and with others.
Judy: Oh, yes, I wish I could tell you all how very much I love this
listserv. I hope there are lots more teachers out there like you all, but I
don't work with them. What a pleasure to 'talk' with intellectuals with the
same thoughts and concerns.
Cathy: I have also witnessed the power of kids talk. They are amazing.
Judy: Kids' conversation has become the foundation of my teaching. I aspire
to have the classroom Britton described where kids are "floating on a sea of
talk."
