Since Latin majuscules predate the mediaeval manuscripts from which the Fraktur forms were evolved this analogy is seriously backwards. Antiqua is not a simplification of Fraktur, but Fraktur capitals are embellished versions of handwritten forms based on Latin majuscules. A./
