FWIW, in my sample Ewellic-script Web pages, I indicated the encoding in two different ways:
[.....] (2) indirectly, by requesting a specific font that supports it, using an inline style sheet:
<style type="text/css"> <!-- body { font-family: Code2000 } <etc. /> --> </style>
