It might, if it were true. During the course of this discussion, I've often lamented that there is no evidence whatsoever that Semitic mathematicians ever used palaeo- Hebrew glyphs as math variables. It would sure simplify things, wouldn't it? I have no fear that many people would embrace a new Fraktur range, therefore its unnecessary to dredge up hypothetical problems that such a range might foster. As a member of the Latin script user community, I'd not be threatened by a separate encoding for Fraktur. I have Fraktur books in my library. Whether I've got their titles stored in my database using Latin characters or abusing math variables is best left to speculation. Best regards, James Kass
