I doubt anyone's this badly snowed by the naming conventions. I suspect that those who want to encode Phoenician separately from Hebrew are motivated by the belief that they are different scripts.

It is Dean Snyder who keeps harping on the fitness or non-fitness of the names, nobody else. If it's an issue, it is only because he keeps trying to make it one. I don't care if the script was invented by Martians.
