As a speaker of English I have a very strong preference for the term "Bengali". We don't insist that they start saying Iṅgliṣ instead of Iṅgreji. Nor should we. Similarly, they should not insist that we say Baṅgla. What a bungle. Michael Everson * http://www.evertype.com/
