I expect my Latvian filenames to appear as Latvian, and my Marshallese 
filenames to appear as Marshallese. The fact that the encoding was screwed up 
in the 1990s should not oblige compromise on that -- and that is not "fine 
typographic detail".

For the monolingual user.
