I know only too well how long software takes to be good, so I'm OK about
your decision to keep it beta for now.

What would be nice is more frequent releases, even if they are labelled
as unstable betas.  I presume there are constraints that mean you don't
do this, but I think the feedback might help you.

Patches are marvellous, but they do seem to have serious limitations
in many cases.  But I can't think of a better system, and haven't understood
the differential mode of HTTP for example.

The thing is to be correcting against the latest version.  That way
people don't duplicate corrections, and they see progress in the book
which encourages interaction.  The version 3 PDF has been version 3 for
a while.  Maybe the rollout to PDF makes frequent updates painful.
I don't think people would mind seeing version numbers 3.0.113 because
book writing takes ages.
