Hey, listen - sorry if I sounded real snotty; it was a long day at the office. In another life, I was an attorney for an insurance company, defending the company's insureds who'd gotten into accidents, and was aware of cases like this. Read your policy very carefully; there may be a section that references towing and mandates that it has to be within the tow vehicle's rated capacity for coverage to apply.
As far as the school bus load of second graders goes, a friend of mine defended a truck driver whose company knowingly overloaded his truck. Driver lost control and slammed into a bus with a church group. Huge, and highly inflammatory news coverage, and the prosecutor was up for election that year. Turned it into a media circus going after the "law and order" vote. Eventually dealt the murder charge down to manslaughter-2 (there was never any evidence that the poor boob actually knew that that actual truck was overloaded, but it was well- known that it was common practice). Guy got 6 months jail and 5 years probation, but the defense costs broke him. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "UnifliteWorld" group.
