I used Brightside on the topside of a 30' sailboat.  I brushed it on except for
the nonskid areas where I used a roller.  The trick was to brush horizonally on
the vertical surfaces and spread the paint out -- using little -- so as to
avoid runs.  Try to keep a wet edge by working fast.  I did this because I
found that I needed two coats.  The stuff likes to run.  So, don't try a
single, heavy coat.  The burshing out and feathering (or tipping) was used for
both coats and I got to where it looked as if it had been sprayed.   Runs were
the only tell-tail.  Runs are hard to recover from.

I probably should have said that painting (brush or roller) with a
multi-part paint doesn't raise the issues that spraying does, and I've
seen some work that defies guessing whether it was rolled or sprayed.
It's a matter of surface prep and care.

As to the Brightside product, your best source for answers is the
material safety data sheet (MSDS) published by the manufacturer. This
page has links to the MSDSs for the different colors:
http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=64
I checked a couple which said to use a respirator designed for the
hazardous materials in section 2 of the MSDS, which were napthalene,
xylenes, amorphous silica, kerosene, Stoddard solvent, medium
aliphatic naptha solvent (petroleum), and some other stuff. Compare
the list on the respirator cartridge to the list on the MSDS to
determine which cartridge to use.

If you're using a 3M respirator, and they make one of the best,
there's an 800 number listed on the MSDS to call 3M to get a
recommendation for the right cartidge.
