I really do appreciate the thought, but I have already bought an anchor roller. The short delta roller from Lewmar. This is the first step towards putting in a windlass, but I am nonetheless concerned about the torquing from the anchor rope on the roller as it will be extended out from the bow about 10 inches. The bolts and backing plate I will put to hold down the roller assembly will themselves only be about 10 inches in from the bow. I imagine this could put quite a load on the fiberglass deck of the bow. I plan on making a big backing plate out of a 2x6 to spread the load to as large an area as possible. Any comments as to what I am doing will be most appreciated.
Thanks again for the thought. I live outside of Gainesville, in Archer.
