I think once you both get some time on your 36' boat, your rate will drop
next year. As you know there is a big difference between a 20' and a 36'so
you are being penalized for lack of experience.

I own a 38' and have the same issue with the fly bridge bounce. Maybe some
time I might fix it but I think it will be a lot of work. I would really
like to hear how you made out doing what you indicated you are going to do
to fix the problem along with the time and cost to do the job.
Thanks,
Capt. Perry

I just got a quote from Boat US for my 36' SS.

Here are the details:
Driver info: 1 Speeding ticket 3 years ago
No baoting violations
25 years of boating experience on 20' boats
0 years of operation experience on 30' and larger
Given discount for State of Georgia Safe Boater Course (DNR course
required in GA to operate boat on public waters).

2nd Owner:
Member of USPS
40+ years boating experience
0 years operating experience on 30'+ size boats

Boat info
36' Uniflite SS, 1973
twin 454 Crusaders 1996, 365 HP each
Never been damaged or sunk
Moored on the Florida Panhandle (yes this hurricane country but get a
discount for keeping at a marine with complementary storm haul out
service).

Coverage Info
Agreed Value on Boat and engines: $75,000 (Survey dependant)
Liability $500k
Med Payments ($5k non family members, $100k family members)
$800k fuel (and other hazardous liquids) spill coverage
$5k fishing equipment coverage (theft only)
$1400 deductible
$2800 Named Storm Deductible (Gulf Coast specific item regarding NOAA
named tropical storms and hurricanes).
Insurance will pay 1/2 the cost of a haul out to protect the boat if
it is in an area threatened by a named storm (and the marina does not
have a complementary service)

total yearly cost is: $2800

So far this is the best policy I have found. Progressive quoted me
$3500 and that did not include fishing equpment coverage or the haul
out feature. The progressive lady on television is cute, but not $700
a year cute....
USAA would be able to beat this, but you have to own your boat for 5
years before they will insure it, otherwise they send you to
Progressive.

Hope this helps....
