You always want to stop contamination at the Racor's. One they are easy to
change and you can also see what the problem is if any. In a perfect world
the engine filter will never see any contamination. Forget 30 micron
filters, the only thing that will do is keep an alligator out of the fuel
system. If you live in an area where you get good diesel fuel, I would try
the 2 micron filters in the racor filters. If you find that you have to
change then to often then go to the 10 micron filters. Always drain the
racor sump drain daily. It is cheaper to change a filter than an injector or
injector pump. And always keep at least two extra set of filters with you in
case you run in to a bad tank of fuel.

Typically you would have a Racor for each engine. After the Racor you would
have either a cartridge or spin-on for your secondary filter.

A thirty micron filter(orange on both ends) would let far too much through
which then plug up the spin on.

Racor filter number one should be a 10 Micron filter (blue on both ends)
minimum. The spin on or final filter before the injectors should be 3 micron
or equiv. Tan or beige on both ends which is I believe 3 Microns.

Which boat do you have??? Are your engines 555 Cumins?? orDetroits??
