Oh great. Now you have my doubting myself on the chain. I called Ideal and
a guy that was with the company 30+ years said it was probably 3/8 BBB but
he couldn't tell for sure without some stamped number on the wildcat. Of
course on my windlass it is scratched out from the chain.

Boy, I wish this had come up a year ago. I measured the chain on my 42' and
the dia of the link material was 3/8". So, I bought 200 feet of 3/8" BBB
chain from Defender Industries. It turned out to be too big! I bought the
wrong chain and I had to find someone to sell it to, which I did. Anyway,
my Ideal windless manual specified 5/16" chain which measures 3/8" . Oh
well, live and learn. BTW, I not only took a big loss on the chain but it
was very hard to move around -- as you know, it's heavy!

Can anyone suggest a good place to price out new 3/8" BBB anchor chain? I
looked at West Marine and Fisheries Supply so far. The best price I have
found is $4.25 a foot. For 300 ft that is a LOT of money. Unfortunately
those stock Ideal Windlass' do not support Chain to nylon line configs I
guess. Or I would go that route.

Thanks,

Kerry
