is your boat a uniflite? i dont recall wood in the transom of a
uniflite?  i had another boat with rotten transom....drilled holes to
let the water out and reamed out the wet wood with a drill bit till
all i had was solid wood...then filled the void with fiberglass resin
to make it solid again
