I just bought a 1975 48 foot C/B Pleasure Cruiser. The marine surveyor noted some soft spots. The one I am most worried about is in the transom. I have replaced a transom on a power vessel before. That one was small enough to take out of the water on a trailer by myself. The 48 footer is expensive to haul out and expensive to pay for while it is "on the hard". I am thinking of drilling 1/4 inch holes down from the top of the transom into the soft area then pouriing the runny marine epoxy they use to permeate and repair dry rot down the holes, allowing it to permeate and harden, then filling the holes with an epoxy filling mix. Anyone had any experience with this? Anyone got any suggestions?
Also looking at pictures of the boats last haul out I noticed that it had a keel (one of those shorter rectangular shaped ones that you see on some newer sail boats). Any ideas what its there for, stability etc ?? I look forward to hearing from you. I would also like to get any information. Pictures etc. of my vessel as I work on her to restore her beauty...Thanks, rj . --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "UnifliteWorld" group.
