Maureen: On the water heater issue, there are two reasons I'm sticking with a tank-type heater. First, marine water heaters also include a heat exchanger that connects to the engine cooling circuit so you have hot water without running your genset or connecting to shore power. Second is that a well-insulated tank-type will hold hot- becoming-warm water for a day or so without (again) having to run your genset, connect to shore power, or run your engines.
