I don't know about the 38 but on my 42, up on the fly bridge toward the port
side there is a big cut out for where they lift the engines in and out.
Over that is aluminum framing that is screwed to the deck.  I had a very
similar leak and it turned out the caulking had come apart and water was
getting under the aluminum framing and through the crack where the caulk
came apart.  It took me forever to find.  I pulled all the aluminum framing
off, used a heat gun to get rid of all the old crap and then re-caulked the
whole thing.  Haven't had a leak since.
