Kerry: I am not sure what model you have. All of the sliding windows on my '73 36-aft have replaceable tracks. There is or was a plastic tract by Beckson and a SS one by STANPRO, if I recall.
To remove the track, slide the glass to one side and lift both what remains of the plastic and felt. You should find anywhere from two to four screws. Remove the screws, slide the glass to the other side and do the same. From the outside, I then ran a sharp knife between the track and the fiberglass to cut any sealant. Slide the two windows together and solely pull the bottom, with the track attached, out. Be careful as once the track reaches midpoint, the weight of the glass will cause it to come out suddenly and entirely. When reinstalling, I put a dab of silicone on each screw hole before sliding the track and glass back in. Have not tried the plastic track, so I cannot comment on how it will hold up to the sun. The felt in the stainless track is good for about 3-5 years and I have not found a way of replacing it other that by replacing the whole track. I did find the stainless track at automotive supply houses . Gene On Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 11:40:42 PM UTC-4, Kerry wrote: > Hi all! Been quiet in here lately!
