Frank,

Thanks for the response. It sounds like the same system my Hatteras friend has
and explained to me. So I assume my pressure sensor is faulty or set above
shore water pressure. So, I’m back to where I’ve always been; turning off the
pump when shore water is connected and turning it off when disconnected.

Doug, I'm not an expert here, but I own the 46'.
The internal pump has a pressure switch in it or with it to shut the pump off
when the set pressure is reached. Usually the dock pressure exceeds that
pressure, so the pump would normally not run when dock water is hooked up. I
leave mine turned off when hooked up to the dock. There is a check valve where
you hook up the dock water to keep from pumping internal water backwards into
the dock system. Originally my old pump had an expansion tank and an external
pressure switch. The new pumps don't need expansion tanks and the switch is
internal. Hope that helps. frank

I have a question concerning the water systems on a 46’ Uniflite. It has to do
with switching between internal water tanks and external dock water. I was told
by a Hatteras owner that he has a pressure sensor that determines if the boat
is hooked up to shore water or not. If so, the fresh water pump does not
operate unless the shore water pressure drops excessively. I question whether
this is the way the Uniflite works. When I have the pump turned on, even with
shore water connected, when I open a faucet, the pump runs. The shore water
pressure seems to be fine. So, how does the Uniflite system switch between
internal water tanks and external shore water?
