There is a product from Rohm and Haas which is much better than the aluminum/silver coverings of the past. It is very white, which means that it cools in summer, but when it dries it is a plastic sheet which adds 10 years to the life of an asphalt roof. It can be applied with brushes or rollers, just like paint. I work at ACORN Housing and we are incorporating it into our low income housing repair program.
