Mr. Zardus et al. . . As an openly gay man in a committed relationship I was especially offended by the "what is the world coming to?" alarmist rant that has appeared on the list in regard to gay marriage. The gay marriage question is perhaps one of the last remaining civil rights issues to be resolved.
While it may be dismissed as merely a "social issue" by some, the fact that a large segment of the population is prohibited from participating in what is taken for granted by heterosexuals has a stinging impact on the day to day lives of thousands of gay couples throughout the country. While one may be opposed to the concept of gay marriage on religious grounds your religion has no place in defining my right to civil marriage.
