I think the do not fight back advice is some of the best advice ever given on
this list. I've put myself in many a dodgy situation in my youth. I've been
in dangerous parts of Philly, NYC, Miami. Often drunk, or more. One time I
decided to escape the city, and spent a summer living in Ithaca NY, and spend
my time drawing comics/swimming in gorges. Around 7pm, on a tuesday, in a
town full of Phish fans... I got mugged. A couple of high school kids jumped
my friends and I. I figured being a badass from a real city that I could
intimidate my attacker. I pushed him in the chest and almost knocked him
down, and yelled "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" He beat me unconsciouswith a baseball bat.
I don't remember much of the beating, but apparently it was pretty brutal. It
took me months to recover.
Stories where people intimidate thieves are very inspiring, but dont take the
chance.
People who use weapons on other people suck.
Pete
