Thanks, Wilma. I have a reasonable idea of Penn Alexander's catchment
area -- at least enough to know that, though I'm 3.5 blocks from the
school, my house is not in that area. What I'm hoping someone can
provide -- though Tony's earlier post offered some verbal insight --
is a map showing the catchment areas for West Philadelpha HS and UCHS.

Dave,
I saw a map two or three years ago, which I cadged from the Press Office
of the School District. There was no link, but I did describe its
boundaries on UC-list. Archive junkies can find it there.
Your central question is quite shrewd.
here's what the dp article reported:
Penn hopes to create an internationally themed high school
that would partner with other schools around the United
States and the world.
The international high school was discussed at last week's
meeting of Penn's Board of Trustees.
An exact location has not been officially decided, said
William Lynch, director of Drexel's School of Education, but
both universities hope the University City High School plans
come through.
It would be an unprecedented move into high-school education
for Penn.
"Right from the get go, the University was making an
assumption the high school would be a counterpart of Penn
Alexander," said James Lytle, a former Philadelphia School
District administrator and Penn Graduate School of Education
professor.
