Hello All,
I have become involved in the 10th grade language arts classrooms at the
High School of the Future, and have challenged them all to read books from
the College Board's "Top 100 Great Books" list. Despite the beautiful
facilities, the students there still struggle with basic literacy.
Amazingly, they have responded and have selected titles that they would like
to read! Now I need to find about 100 books, to strike while the iron is
hot...
Could you all search your bookshelves and donate books to the cause? Below
is a list of titles, but I am finding that even books such as Goosebumps and
Bruce Coville are generating interest. While pushing them to reach higher,
I am also concerned to "meet them where they are at". It matters that I can
tell them to just take the books with them, so the more I have the better
that works....
I will be working on this project until the end of the school year, and
perhaps into the next. So I don't believe I could receive too many books!!
Just contact me by phone or e-mail and I will come pick the books up from
you.

Thanks to my altruistic, idealistic, education-focused community!!
Sincerely,
Patty Bulack, Arts Program Coordinator, West Park Cultural Center, at High
School of the Future
