It's doubtful that Art Deco started here in Philly. We have a few examples of the style (30th street has the train station and post office, and there's that wonderful courthouse at 8th street), but we certainly didn't incubate the style before Paris or New York.
Movies were made in Philly before Hollywood, but frankly, that's true of this whole region. Edison's first studio, the Black Maria, was in New Jersey, and here were aspiring filmmakers working with the new technology in New York and Philadelphia as well, and I believe there are studios on Long Island that date to the silent era. (There was a substantial film industry in Paris long before Hollywood, thanks to the Lumiere Bros. and Georges Melies.) Liz Lemon is Tina Fey's character in "30 Rock."
