Does anyone have the e-mail address of the President of FOCP, Erin
Englestad? Or could you forward this to her?
I consider Erin a friend and knew her as an organizer of the Best Fest
before her days with the FOCP. I would like to send her a formal letter
(copied to the list) as the President of FOCP about the upcoming park
permit requirements, and the need for an emergency, publicized, open,
neighborhood meeting!
Our civic associations once had the promise of being advocates for the
people of the neighborhood. More than anytime in the past decade, I
believe the President could reform the role of the FOCP in our neighborhood.
I am quite sure that making the traditional open spontaneous gatherings
in Clark Park illegal would be overwhelmingly rejected by the
stakeholders in Clark Park and this neighborhood! People across the
city would also reject this authoritarian stripping of the right to
assembly, if they find out about it before the first arrests. It will
take away the life force of community and neighborhood building by
making parks available only to organized fee based clubs and their
permitted activities!
This is not a matter for an FOCP invitation only committee. This final
push over our Philadelphia parks is a matter for all citizens of
Philadelphia and all members of this neighborhood!
Thanks,
