Subject: [PFSNI] Police shooting dogs last night, 48th/Pine
To: PFSNI <[email protected]>
By now many of you know that last night police shot two dogs on 48th
St. between Pine and Osage. I did not witness the shooting, but have
heard from others that the dogs were not behaving aggressively but may
have been jumping on people. Not only do I view this shooting as an
outrageous overreaction, I am more than a little concerned about
police discharging weapons when there was, by all accounts, a whole
lot of people around.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is being encouraged to provide a
statement to Internal Affairs or to the Police Advisory Commission,
according to Kelvyn Anderson, Executive Director Police Advisory
Commission (215-685-0891 or [email protected]).
If anyone knows who owned the dogs, please ask them to contact me. The
PA Bar Association Animal Law Committee may be interested in taking on
this issue, because it seems to be part of a nationwide trend.
