It's not the slimserver doing that - it's linux. Linux doesn't have drive letters (e.g D:) it has mounts (e.g. /mnt/music). Slimserver itself doesn't care what you use, but it has to be right for the operating system it's running on. Only you can do the translation between the two, because only you know how your drives are configured in linux and Windows.
