When will there be a Debian (and or Ubuntu) .deb package available?

I will get it working eventually, it's just frustrating that there isn't a .deb package available as well as a .rpm package.
Have you read the wiki about init scripts? There are a few scripts that should work with debian. I got slimserver up and running on a Debian based distro (SlimCD) without too much hassle.
